white oak brewery

Pulling inspiration from Athens’ local “Tree that Own’s Itself” (a white oak), the concept design of a local brewery with a restaurant, tasting bar, and banquet hall was created. This space takes into consideration the vernacular design of the piedmont area of Georgia. While a modern design, elements from the traditional antebellum houses, such as wrap around porches, were incorporated along with timber column structure. An additional feature of floor to ceiling windows was added for both natural light, which reduces electrical needs, as well as a call back to traditional design. Showcasing the brewing process, large silos were placed in a viewing atrium where guests can see the creation of their beverage in process.
